Joseph Scutellaro
Joseph F. Scutellaro, CPA, is the Partner in charge of the Tax Department at Jump, Scutellaro and Company, L.L.P., Toms River, New Jersey. Mr. Scutellaro has specialized in Taxation since 1985 while an associate at the New York office of Oppeniheim, Appel, Dixon & Co. Over the past 25 years he has been involved in every aspect of tax practice including individuals, partnerships, S-corporations, large multi-state consolidated tax returns, international tax issues and tax practice management. In 1993 he merged his practice with Don Jump’s to form the Firm of Jump Scutellaro and Company, L.L.P.
Mr. Scutellaro has experience handling all levels of federal, state and local tax compliance and research issues including extensive experience with a wide array of industries including large national multi-location operations as well as International operations. As the partner in charge of the firm’s tax practice, Joe’s responsibilities include development and maintenance of quality control standards, technical review of firm-issued tax returns and memorandums to ensure compliance with all IRS regulations governing the providing of tax services, including Treasury Circular 230.
Mr. Scutellaro is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and has recently served a 3 year term as a member of the AICPA Tax Executive Committee. He also previously severed as a member of the Tax Practice Responsibility Committee, where he helped author the AICPA’s Tax Practice Quality Control Guide, Tax Practice and Procedures Committee and Member Tax Practice Improvement Committees. He is currently serving as the Chair of the Institute’s Working Group on Tax Practice Quality Control and previously served as Chair of its E-file Task Force. Joe is also very active in the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA), having recently served as the Chair of the Professional Conduct Committee, which he continues to be a member, as well as the New Jersey CPA Magazine Editorial Advisory Board. Previously he served two years as Treasurer of the NJSCPA, as well as Chair of the Finance Committee, Tax Resource Group and Federal Taxation Committee. He is a frequent lecturer and Author throughout the country for the AICPA, NJSCPA and Western CPE on various technical tax topics as well as tax practice management and ethics.
Mr. Scutellaro earned his B.S. in Accounting from Fordham University and has worked toward his M.S. in Taxation at Baruch College. He and his wife Tracey reside in Brick, New Jersey and have two sons and one daughter. In his community, he is a member of the Brick Rotary, involved in the Brick Challenger baseball league and has also served as Treasurer and Coach in the Twin County Soccer Association and the Brick Township Soccer Association.
